F&M's Five Second-Half Goals Spell Difference

from press release

LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall ripped off five-straight goals in the second half to break open a one-goal game en route to an 11-6 win over Haverford on Saturday. The Diplomats (13-2, 7-0 Centennial) got three goals from Maggie Mae Shields and Erin Dunne, while the Fords (9-5, 5-2 Centennial) saw Josie Ferri cash in on four eight-meter shots.

After F&M opened up a 5-1 lead that included all three of Shields' tallies and Dunne's first, Ferri's free position prowess made it a close game.  She scored her first with 3:52 left in the first half and another pair in the first five minutes of the second half to make it 5-4.

The score stayed that way for six minutes before Lauren Selawski offered Lauren Ehrhardt a feed from behind. Ehrhardt bowled the ball into the low left corner to spark the decisive run. Selawski scored again in the run, while Dunne scored twice to complete her hat trick. Ehrhardt also punched in a goal.

Haverford scored twice in the final minute, which included Ferri's final FPS tally. Caroline Krohn netted her second with two seconds left in the game.

The Diplomats return to action on Wednesday against Gettysburg. The winner of that game will earn the right to host the Centennial Conference Championship tournament.
