from press release

HARTFORD, Conn. – The Trinity College Bantams survived a late run by the Colby College Mules to stay perfect with an 11-9 win in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's lacrosse action this afternoon on Sheppard Field. Trinity, ranked No. 5 in the nation, improves to 8-0 with its 22nd consecutive regular-season victory, while the Mules suffer their first loss of the season, dropping to 8-1 overall.

The Bantams led 10-7 with 11:52 remaining in regulation before Colby scored back-to-back goals, from junior Kate Pistel (Amherst, Mass.) and sophomore Lindsey McKenna (Fairfield, Conn.), to cut the Trinity lead to 10-9. With 5:01 showing on the clock, senior midfielder Megan Leonhard (Summit, N.J.) came up with the biggest goal of the day, putting Trinity up 11-9, as the Bantam defense kept the Colby offense quiet over the remainder of the game.

Pistel and McKenna each netted a hat trick for the Mules, while Trinity senior attacker Hadley Duncan (Rye, N.Y.) matched with three goals of her own, and Leonhard and senior co-captain midfielder Liz Bruno (Andover, Mass.) added two apiece for the Bantams. Junior Olivia Whitney (Danvers, Mass.) made four saves to earn the win in net for Trinity.
