SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Top-seeded UC Berkeley Club and third-seeded Loyola University (Md.) Club have advanced to the championship game of the Division II bracket at the US Lacrosse Women’s Division Intercollegiate Associates National Championships, presented by Harrow Sports. This is the first time the event has featured a championship at the Division II level.

Cal defeated the University of San Diego 13-10 while Loyola knocked off Southern Methodist University 19-8.

Cal had its hands full against the University of San Diego, trailing 6-4 at the half, but the Bears scored the first four goals of the second half to take command. San Diego’s Casey Boyle ended the Cal run at the 22:03 mark of the second half to pull the Toreos within 8-7, but they could get no closer.

Lillian Nelson scored all three of her goals in the second half to pace a balanced Cal attack. Kelsey Udinski also had three goals while Jackie Lalanne had two goals and two assists and Sophie Shevick had two goals. Boyle led San Diego with six goals while Emily Fuller added two.

After falling behind 1-0 to SMU, Loyola dominated play to advance to the championship game. Kerri Dezell scored for SMU with 10:10 left in the first half to get the Mustangs within two at 5-3, but the Greyhounds scored seven unanswered goals in the final 10 minutes of the half to take a 12-3 halftime lead.

Erin Cawley scored the first two goals of the game for Loyola and finished with a team-leading three along with Jillian Reidy and Katherine Cola. Dezell led SMU with four goals.
