To kick things off, US Lacrosse has announced that John Danowski (Duke) and Janine Tucker (Johns Hopkins) will speak at the 2011 US Lacrosse National Convention.
One of the top coaches in college lacrosse, John Danowski has helped lead the Duke men's lacrosse team to unprecedented success during his four-year tenure. Danowski was introduced as Duke's eighth head men's lacrosse coach on July 21, 2006 and quickly led the Blue Devils to four of the most successful lacrosse seasons in school history. In 2010, Danowski and the Blue Devils etched their names in the NCAA record book when they captured the program's first NCAA championship with a 6-5 overtime victory over Notre Dame.
Janine Tucker, a four-time IWLCA Regional Coach of the Year, is the all-time winningest coach at Johns Hopkins with a 192-96 (.667) record in 17 seasons, including a 124-80 (.608) mark at the Division I level. She took over the Blue Jay women's lacrosse program in August 1993 and successfully guided the program's transition from Division III to Division I without missing a beat. A 1989 graduate of Loyola (Md.) and a member of the Greyhounds Athletic Hall of Fame, Tucker led the Blue Jays to double-digit win totals in each of her first 14 seasons, including four NCAA Division III Tournament appearances, three ECAC Division I championship games, and the program's first three NCAA Division I Tournament appearances in 2004, 2005 and 2007.
At the 2011 US Lacrosse National Convention, Tucker will present "The Makings of a Midfielder - Skills, Drills and Mindset."
The US Lacrosse National Convention, presented by Champion®, returns to the Baltimore Convention Center again Jan. 21-23, 2011.
