The Washington Post's Chelsea Janes is reporting that Georgetown Prep head coach Kevin Giblin, who has compiled a sterling record of over 400 wins as the only head coach in the program's history, has resigned.
An email sent by Georgetown Prep athletic director Dan Paro was received by the The Post and stated that offensive coordinator Charlie Horning will take over the team on an interim basis. Most of the staff is expected to return.
Georgetown Prep finished 2014 as the No. 4 team in the final Nike/USL High School Boys' Top 25 after a 19-1 season. Giblin, who has been the team's head coach since the program's inception in 1988, captured his 400th career win in 2013.
Details surrounding his sudden departure were not cited in the story.
“I would like to thank Coach Giblin for his hard work, dedication and genuine commitment to the students, alumni, and parents of Prep,” Paro wrote in the email.
