Rookie Roy Ready for Outlaws Debut

from press release

DENVER – Former University of Denver men’s lacrosse stand-out Dillon Roy is expected to make his Major League Lacrosse debut Sunday with the Denver Outlaws in their July 4 game against the Chesapeake Bayhawks at INVESCO Field at Mile High. Opening face-off is slated for 7 p.m.

Roy will be joined by assistant coaches Matt Brown and Kevin Unterstein and former Pioneer Joey Murray.

Fans in attendance will be treated to pregame party on the south deck, which includes a $2 Coke, nachos and hot dog, as well as a Denver’s only post-game fireworks show launched from the south stands. This year’s fireworks and multi-media display will be best experienced from inside INVESCO Field, as the high-impact fireworks show is set to ignite close to 10,000 rounds.

A strong family, military and regional theme will set the tone for the overall presentation. The Outlaws broke their own professional lacrosse attendance record at last year’s July 4th game, hosting over 23,000 fans. The close proximity fireworks show has become one of the city’s premiere events and this year promises to be a display to be remembered.

The Outlaws hope to celebrate the Fourth with a win against the Chesapeake Bayhawks, who are currently tied with both the Denver Outlaws and the Boston Cannons for first place in the league, all with 4-2 records.

Veteran attackman Brendan Mundorf, who leads the team in points scored, and Brown, who has scored 16 goals in five games, along with the rest of the Outlaws will be challenging Peet Poillon and the Bayhawks in this epic Independence Day event.

Prior to the game on July 4, the Denver Outlaws will team up with Esurance, the team’s official “green” sponsor, and The Park People to plant trees in a special ceremony at 5 p.m. at the Sports Legends Mall on the south side of INVESCO Field at Mile High. Local youth lacrosse teams and volunteers will also join the effort to beautify the stadium’s surroundings for future generations.

Tickets in the lower seating bowl are still available and start at just $15 by calling 303-OUTLAWS or online at www.DenverOutlaws.com <http://www.DenverOutlaws.com>  or www.Ticketmaster.com <http://www.Ticketmaster.com> .
