Kelly Shines as Outlaws Hammer Charlotte

from press release

DENVER -- Last week Anthony Kelly wore an Ohio Machine jersey and played against Denver at Sports Authority Field at Mile High.

On Saturday, Kelly won 22-of-29 faceoffs for the Outlaws after the team acquired him in a mid-week trade.

He also contributed with one goal and one assist in his Denver debut.

Denver added goals from 11 different players, a season high, four of those off the stick of rookie Mark Mathews.

The Outlaws dominated the first quarter, while simultaneously keeping the Hounds off the board for nearly eight minutes. The frame ended with a 10-1 tally, which tied for second most goals in a quarter in franchise history.

The Outlaws almost shut the Hounds out in the second quarter but the Hounds put up a two-point goal with two minutes left in the half. Denver however had the majority of the goals with tallies from Chris Bocklet and Justin Pennington to make the score 13-3 at the intermission.

While the Hounds were the first to score in the second half, Drew Snider, Terry Kimener and Brendan Mundorf all posted points in the third frame to increase Denver’s lead to 16-5 entering the final frame.

The fourth quarter saw just as much action ultimately leading to a 21-7 victory for the Outlaws. Army Captain Adam Fullerton relived Jesse Schwartzman with 3:50 to play in the game. Schwartzman saved 9-of-13 goals on the night while Fullerton turned away 3-of-4 shots on net helping the Outlaws hold Charlotte to seven goals, which tied for the fourth fewest the team has allowed in its history.

Denver’s win coupled with Boston’s loss to Long Island put the Outlaws alone in second place with an 7-3 record on the season. Denver is just one game behind league-leading Chesapeake , entering Week 11 when the Outlaws will travel to Boston for a rematch against the Cannons.
