Bayhawks Finish Season 5-9 with Win over Hounds

from staff reports

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- It was little consolation for the two-time defending Major League Lacrosse (MLL) champion, as the Chesapeake Bayhawks concluded their season with a 19-13 victory over the equally-as-disappointed Charlotte Hounds, who lost their last five games and finished winless on the road.

Drew Westervelt scored three goals and added three assists in the victory, which moved the Bayhawks to 9-5. The Hounds finished 4-10. Neither team made the playoffs a year after they played in the MLL championship game.

Chesapeake stormed to a 19-8 lead after three quarters.  Ben Hunt scored a game-high four goals and Matt Abbott dished a game-high five assists for the Bayhawks. Charlotte scored all five fourth-quarter goals, with Matt Danowski finishing with three goals and an assist.
