MLL Weekend: Highlights, Recaps from Close of Regular Season

from LaxMagazine.com Staff Reports | Twitter

The playoffs are set for next weekend, as top seed Rochester will host Ohio and Denver will host New York in the semifinals, the first time the two playoff rounds will be played on different weekends. The winners on Saturday will face off for the Steinfeld Cup one week later, at the home field of Kennisaw State University outside of Atlanta.

Ohio was the last team in, clinching its playoff trip with a win over Florida. Rochester didn't need a win to get in the playoffs, but their win over Boston did clinch the home game. New York defeated Denver, but it wasn't enough to earn the tie-breaker and home game, while the Bayhawks earned the win over the Charlotte Hounds in a rematch of last year's MLL finals.

Ohio 14, Florida 10

The Machine capped a five-game winning streak to earn a playoff berth, its first in franchise history. Marcus Holman scored four goals, Steele Stanwick scored three more and Peter Baum had two and two assists to pace the Machine, who travel to Rochester - which they topped by a pair in a recent game - for the first round.
