Brawl Halts NLL Preseason Game

from staff reports

SIX NATIONS, Ont. -- A preseason game between bitter National Lacrosse League rivals ended prematurely after a bench-clearing brawl erupted on Wednesday night.

The Buffalo Bandits led the Toronto Rock, 5-4, when the game was cut short after the benches emptied with 5:02 left in the third quarter.

There were several fights throughout the exhibition leading up to the brawl. As a result, the officials called the game with the Bandits leading.

All three Rock goaltenders still in camp saw action. Gee Nash played the opening 15 minutes, surrendering two goals. Pat Campbell started the second quarter, but ended up in a fight just over nine minutes in. With Campbell having to serve his penalties, Nash replaced him in the Rock net for the remainder of the first half, giving up one goal.

Bob Watson played just under 10 minutes in the third quarter and did not face a single shot.

Geoff McNulty scored two goals for Toronto. Mat MacLeod and Garrett Billings each chipped in a goal.
