One Year From Today, The Games Begin

Exactly one year from today, the 2014 Federation of International Lacrosse World Championship will commence in Denver with the Opening Ceremonies.

This landmark event will be the largest international lacrosse event in history with as many as 40 nations represented. It is the first time that an FIL World Championship has been held in the United States away from the East Coast, and is also the first time the men's world championship has been held in the U.S. since 1998.

The FIL Men's World Championship dates to 1967, and the United States has brought home the world championship in 1967, 1974, 1982, 1986, 1990, 1994, 1998, 2002 and 2010. Canada, which won the 1978 and 2006 world championships, will be one of the main rivals to the U.S.

In addition to the FIL World Championship, youth and master's teams from around the country will compete in the World Festivals, held in conjunction with the event at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.

This 10-day event promises to feature great lacrosse with a unique international flavor that will allow for a memorable once-in-a-lifetime experience.
