U.S. U19 Team Blog: Kelly McPartland
Today's game versus England was more competitive than yesterday versus Haudenosaunee. It was a little quicker. It was tough for us in the beginning, but we came together at the end and played our game. Coach Carter threw a bunch of different defenses at us, and because of the yellow cards we got, sometimes you have to switch it up, so her throwing different defenses at us was a challenge, and she thought we did really well with it.
It's such an experience just to step on the field with those jerseys on and all these girls who are so amazing to play with. We've had so much fun too – going to get gelato, walking around town touring, it's awesome. I heard Australia was really good so it should be one of our better games like Canada was, so hopefully they're up to par!
We went to a big team and parents dinner tonight. It was very good – I tried schnitzel for the first time and it was actually pretty good. It tasted like chicken. I'm a very picky eater so it was a big step for me.
With my day off, I think I'm going to go to the Hannover Zoo with the Fortunatos. They're my family for the day until my sister gets here Wednesday. I was talking to one of the German boys who drive us from the hotel to the fields and he told us there were some elephants. That should be pretty cool. But mostly I'm looking forward our playoff games!
