Three Things to Watch This Weekend
It's Friday. Be happy, and here are three big things to watch this weekend...other than Halloween costumes.
National Lacrosse Hall of Fame Induction
When: Saturday night
Where: The Grand Lodge, Hunt Valley, Md.
Seven new members – four men and three women – will be inducted into the Hall of Fame at a ceremony Saturday night. Former USILA President Bruce Allison, Traci Davis, Dave Huntley, Jake Lawlor, Suzanne Honeysett McKinny, Jon Reese, Sandra Lanahan Zvosec will join more than 350 other lacrosse greats inside the Hall. Each inductee will be presented by a person of their choice and asked to give a speech, both of which should give some insight into the person behind the player, coach or administrator.
Duke Women's Fall Ball
When: All Weekend
Where: Duke University, Durham, N.C.
The Blue Devils are in for a busy weekend, hosting Florida for a game at 2 p.m. local time Saturday. That scrimmage is 60 mintues followed by an extra period to play 7v6.
Sunday in Durham is the seven-team Duke Tournament, which besides the Blue Devils, includes Florida, Vanderbilt, High Point, Old Dominion, William & Mary and Virginia Tech. Georgetown Women's Fall Ball Tournament
Where: Washington, D.C.
The Hoyas and Team USA women's coach Ricky Fried end fall ball by welcoming Maryland, James Madison and Lehigh to town at their Multi-Sport Field. The schedule is:
9 a.m. - Georgetown vs. Maryland
10 a.m. - James Madison vs. Lehigh
11 a.m. - Georgetown vs. Lehigh
12 p.m. - James Madison vs. Maryland
1 p.m. - Maryland vs. Lehigh
2 p.m. - Georgetown vs. James Madison
All games will have two 25-minute halves with a five-minute halftime. Admission is $5 and benefits WINNERS Lacrosse, a non-profit that strives to make lacrosse available to underserved, inner-city boys and girls in the Washington metro area.
