The Hoyas needed all five of Comeau's goals, as Navy scored three unanswered goals in the final five minutes of the fourth quarter to close the game to one goal, at 9-8. Navy's Evan McGoogan would win the game's final face-off with 24 seconds on the clock, but Barney Ehrmann (Baltimore, Md./Gilman) would knock the ball from his stick and Ryan Shuler would pick up the loose ball as the Hoyas cleared the ball to hold on to a 9-8 victory.

Navy's Jay Mann answered with under a minute remaining in the first quarter to cut GU's lead in half, but the Hoyas responded in the second quarter. Comeau scored three consecutive goals, as he picked up rebounds and found cracks in the Navy defense to take a comfortable 5-1 lead. The Midshipmen scored one final time in the first half with 17 seconds remaining to send the game into halftime at 5-2.
Mann and Tucker Hull opened up the third quarter for Navy with back-to-back goals, cutting the Hoyas lead to one goal, at 5-4. Comeau responded, catching a pass on the crease from Mirabito and scoring to extend the lead to two goals. Hull would again cut the lead to one goal, but Comeau would score his fifth on the assist from Max Seligmann (Essex Fells, N.J./Delbarton) with time running out in the third quarter.
Zack Angel (Park Hall, Md./St. Mary's Ryken) added a goal on the assist from Emala and Casey would score on the assist from Mirabito to put the Hoyas in front by four goals with just under 10 minutes to play in the game.

Pat Kiernan brought the game to within one goal with 24 seconds remaining on the clock, but Ehrmann would force a turnover on the ensuing face-off and Shuler would run out the clock to seal a 9-8 victory for the Hoyas.
