Seniors Lead Princeton Past Manhattan 14-8
from press release
MANHATTAN, N.Y. - Without Forest Sonnenfeldt
and Tucker Shanley the 2013 Princeton men's lacrosse team struggled
all season to find offensive depth. The duo, now healthy, gave
Princeton exactly what it was missing a year ago.
Sonnenfeldt scored three goals and Shanley added two, as Princeton defeated Manhattan 14-8 on a frozen night at Gaelic Park. With its two senior big men back, Princeton built a 13-3 lead after three quarters.
Tom Schreiber had a goal and four assists, and now has 80 goals and 79 assists for his career. He needs one more assist to join Jon Hess and Dave Hewbeck, as the only Princeton players ever to score 80 goals and 80 assists.
No. 9 Princeton is now 2-0 on the young season, while Manhattan is 0-4. The Tigers are 5-0 all-time against the Jaspers.
Will Rotatori started the scoring two minutes into the game, and it was 5-0 Princeton at the end of the first quarter as five different players scored.
Kip Orban and Jake Froccaro had two goals apiece. Mike MacDonald had a goal and two assists.
Princeton hosts No. 5 Johns Hopkins this Saturday, March 1 at noon on Sherrerd Field at Class of 1952 Stadium.
