Hodapp Leads Mercy Past Lake Erie

ERIE, Pa. - Behind four goals and one assist from freshman Pat Hodapp, the #8 Mercy College men's lacrosse team ran its record to 8-1 on the season, with a 12-9 win over Lake Erie College, in a game played in Painesville, Ohio. Mercy remains only one of three teams with one loss in the competitive East Coast Conference, with a 4-1 record. Mercyhurst is 5-1, followed by Mercy and C.W. Post, who is 3-1.
The Mavericks scored six goals in the first quarter and never looked back. Merrcy led 7-3 at the half, and 10-5 after three. Mercy led 12-6 early in the fourth quarter, before the Storm rallied, scoring three more times, for the 12-9 final.
Hodapp (Oak Ridge, N.J./Jefferson) was the star, recording two of his four goals in the first quarter. Junior Sal Spinelli (East Islip, N.Y./East Islip/Suffolk CC) also had two goals in that first quarter.
In all, LEC took more shots than Mercy, 45-28. Mercy sophomore T. J. DiCarlo (Farmingdale, N.Y./Farmingdale) made 14 saves in goal on the day.
The Mavericks take nine days between contests, and will next play on Monday, April 11, at Dominican College at 4:00 p.m.
