Klarmann Named Mars Hill Head Coach

MARS HILL, N.C.
- Dave Klarmann has been named as the new head men's lacrosse coach at Mars Hill College, Athletic Director David Riggins announced today. Klarmann will begin his duties immediately.

Riggins stated, "The addition of Dave Klarmann as our head lacrosse coach is a tremendous boost to an already stellar program. Coach Klarmann's resume and levels of success at every stop make him a valuable resource not only to our lacrosse program but to our athletic program as a whole."

Klarmann brings a wealth of lacrosse coaching experience with him to Mars Hill College. He has experience coaching at the NCAA Division I level and at the high school level which gives him knowledge of all aspects of recruiting collegiate players.

Klarmann stated, "I am extremely excited about the opportunity to lead the lacrosse program at Mars Hill College. Coaches Sean Woods and Jason Lange have built a solid foundation and I am fortunate to have a squad of dedicated and talented players for my inaugural year. We will strive for 100% graduation rate and the Division II Championship every year."

Klarmann was the head men's lacrosse coach at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for nine years where he garnered Atlantic Coast Conference Coach of the Year Honors five times. He also served as an assistant coach for the Tarheels for 10 years prior to taking the head coaching position. During his stint in Chapel Hill, Klarmann helped lead the Tarheels to four National Championships, seven NCAA appearances and three final four appearances.

After leaving UNC, Klarmann was the head coach at Radford University for a year before taking a position as the defensive coach at Duke University. Most recently, Klarmann was the head coach at Chapel Hill High School where he served in that capacity until accepting the position at Mars Hill.

Mars Hill College is a NCAA Division II institution and a member of the South Atlantic Conference. The league is comprised of schools in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.
