Mesa State Signs 13 to Letters of Intent

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Thirteen student-athletes have signed NCAA National letters of Intent to play men's Lacrosse for Mesa State starting in the 2011-12 campaign, head coach A.J. Stevens announced this week. Included in the group are five athletes ranked among the Elite 25 seniors by West Side Lacrosse.

"I am very excited with the recruits that we signed from the class of 2011," Stevens said. "We have assembled some of the top players in the Western United States. I feel they will adjust quickly to the college game, adding the depth and talent we need to be competitive with the top teams in NCAA Division II lacrosse.

Joining the Mavericks next fall are Talon Bates (Grand Junction/Grand Junction, CO), Zach Bullett (Juan Diego Catholic/Draper, UT), Daniel Caddoo (Fort Collins/Fort Collins, CO), Stephen Dunn (Juan Diego Catholic/Draper, UT), Mitch Flaherty (Amador Valley/Pleasanton, CA), Gabe Garcia (Foothill/Pleasanton, CA), Matt Hoff (Evergreen/Morrison, CO), Parker Hoffman (Jesuit/North Plains, OR), Eric McCosker (De La Salle/Concord, CA), Shane O'Neill (Foothill/Pleasanton, CO), Griffin Perkiel (Park City/Park City, UT), Dominic Pizzuti (Bowie/Austin, TX) and Austin Pridham (Bellarmine College Prep/Saratoga, CA).

Zach Bullett is a 6'3", 195-pound long stick midfielder and team captain for Juan Diego Catholic. As a junior, West Side Lacrosse named him the top player in the Western United States by ranking him #1 on the Elite 25. He tallied 110 ground balls and was named first team all-state this past spring. Zach also plays for Brady's Bunch and participated at Jake Reed's rising senior Nike Blue Chip Camp. He is a high school teammate with fellow signee Stephen Dunn.

Austin Pridham is a 6'2", 165-pound attackman for Bellarmine College Prep. As a junior, West Side Lacrosse ranked him as the 6th best player in the Western United States. He was named all-conference after scoring 46 goals and 55 assists this past spring. Austin is also the starting cornerback on his high school football team. He plays club lacrosse for the Nor Cal Braves.

Mitch Flaherty is a 6'1", 188-pound attackman from Amador Valley High School. As a junior, West Side Lacrosse ranked him as the 10th best player in the Western United States. He was named first team all-conference and scored 42 goals and 38 assists this past spring. Mitch also plays for Brady's Bunch and participated at Jake Reed's rising senior Nike Blue Chip Camp.

Gabe Garcia is a 5'11," 162-pound attackman and team captain for Foothill-Pleasanton High School. As a junior, West Side Lacrosse ranked him as the 13th best player in the Western United States. He was named first team all-conference in both 2009 and 2010 and scored 57 goals and 34 assists this past spring. Gabe was named an All-Star at California Gold, Blue Chip 225, the Adrenaline Challenge and the Adrenaline Shootout. He plays club lacrosse for Brady's Bunch and is a high school teammate with fellow signee Shane O'Neill.

Stephen Dunn is a 6'1", 188-pound attackman for Juan Diego Catholic High School. As a junior, West Side Lacrosse ranked him the 22nd best player in the Western United States. Stephen was named first team all-state while scoring 48 goals and 28 assists this past spring. He plays club lacrosse for Brady's Bunch and is a high school teammate with fellow signee Zach Bullett.

Griffin Perkiel is a 6'3", 205-pound midfielder for Park City High School. He tallied 43 goals and 22 assists while leading Park City high school to the state finals this past spring. Griffin was selected to participate in the 205 East and was an all-star at both 205 West and the Adrenaline Shootout. He also plays basketball for Park City and club lacrosse for Brady's Bunch.

Shane O'Neill is a 5'8", 145-pound defensive midfielder for Foothill-Pleasanton High School. He tallied 130 groundballs, 4 goals and 8 assists this past spring. Shane was also MVP and captain of the wresting team. He plays club lacrosse for Brady's Bunch and is a high school teammate with fellow signee Gabe Garcia.

Eric McCosker is a 6'1", 190-pound defenseman for De La Salle High School. He tallied 16 assists and 75 ground balls this past spring while winning the North Coast section. He was selected for California Gold and Top 205. Eric plays club lacrosse for Brady's Bunch was a high school teammate with current Maverick Giuliano Sanchez.

Talon Bates is a 5'11", 170-pound defensive midfielder for Grand Junction High School. He was named to the academic all-state lacrosse team this past spring. Talon is also team captain for his high school soccer team and was named all-state this fall. He plays club lacrosse for Maverick Elite and was a high school teammate with current Mavericks Stu Foster and Taylor Watkins.

Daniel Caddoo is a 5'8", 160-pound attackman for the Fort Collins Vipers. He scored 24 goals and 14 assists this past spring. Daniel was named to the all-conference team as a sophomore. He was a high school teammate with current Mavericks Andrew Kurth and John Moore.

Matt Hoff is a 5'11", 175-pound goalie for Evergreen High School. He had a .721 save percentage while earning team MVP and all-conference honors this past spring. Matt also plays club lacrosse for Denver Elite.

Parker Hoffman is a 6'1", 190-pound midfielder for Jesuit High School. He scored 25 goals and 7 assists last spring. Parker is also a competitive skier for his high school ski team. He plays club lacrosse for Rhino Elite and participated at California Gold this past summer.

Dominic Pizzuti is a 6'1", 180-pound midfielder for Bowie High School. He scored 45 goals and 23 assists and was named to the all-district team this past spring. Dominic also plays club lacrosse for the ATX Laxbats and Team Austin.
