No. 4 Le Moyne Coasts Past Adams State

AURORA, Colo. – Senior attackman Sean Connors (Camillus, N.Y./Marcellus) and sophomore midfielder Andrew Chadderdon (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn) scored three goals apiece to lead the fourth-ranked Le Moyne College men's lacrosse team to a 13-4 win over Adams State on Thursday afternoon at Regis Jesuit High School.
Connors opened the game's scoring at the 13:05 mark off a pass from junior attackman Nate Frechette (Manlius, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy). He doubled his team's lead less than two minutes later after taking a pass from junior attackman Tyler Prevost (Watertown, N.Y./Immaculate Heart/Onondaga C.C.). Freshman midfielder Alec Westerhoff (Lagrange Park, Ill./Lyons Township/Bridgton Academy) capped the scoring in the first quarter with his fifth goal of the season with 7:35 remaining.
After 9:39 of scoreless action, Chadderdon scored his first goal of the game off a pass from junior midfielder Aaron Cahill (Schenectady, N.Y./Guilderland/Onondaga C.C.) in a man-up situation. After sophomore face-off specialist Cameron Fedish (Binghamton, N.Y./Chenango Valley) won the ensuing face-off, he fed Frechette for his fifth goal of the campaign.
After Anthony Damico backed up a missed, he fed Anthony Willner to get the Grizzlies on the scoreboard at the 11:50 mark of the second quarter.
Following four missed shots on Le Moyne's next possession after Willner's goal, sophomore attackman Chris Button (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) finished off a feed from Frechette with 9:02 left. Just under four minutes later, Chadderdon registered an unassisted goal to give the Dolphins a 7-1 lead.
Parker Smith trimmed Adams State's deficit back to five with a man-up goal off a pass from Damico with 1:42 left in the half.
Chadderdon closed out the scoring in the half with his eighth goal of the year with 39 seconds remaining.
Connors scored the only goal of the third quarter at the 8:26 mark off a pass from junior midfielder Doug Bailey (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy).
Josh Peterman scored the first goal of the fourth quarter at the 11:50 mark off a feed from Davis Sartori to get the Grizzlies within 9-3.
The Dolphins answered with four straight goals over a span of 6:07 to put the game away. Senior midfielder John Albanese (East Syracuse, N.Y./East Syracuse-Minoa) scored during an extra-man opportunity with 8:50 remaining off a pass from sophomore midfielder Matt Klepper (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius/Merrimack). Freshman attackman Devin Clegg (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) followed with his first two collegiate goals in a span of 73 seconds. His first came off a pass from classmate Gary Bova (Syracuse, N.Y./Onondaga) with 4:33 left, while his second was unassisted. Freshman attackman Chris Breiner (Troy, N.Y./Trinity-Pawling) capped Le Moyne's scoring with his first goal of the campaign with 2:43 remaining.
Peterman ended the game's scoring with 1:13 to go in an extra-man situation off a pass from Kevin Bertrand.
Junior goalkeeper Jeff White (Buffalo, N.Y./Canisius HS) was credited with one save in 30 minutes of action to register the victory. Ronnie Fernando made seven saves in the setback for the Grizzlies.
Le Moyne (4-0), which has scored 13 goals in three straight games, opens Northeast-10 Conference action on Saturday, March 17 against defending Northeast-10 champion Adelphi at 1:00 p.m.
