Keil Notches First Win in Pfeiffer Shutout

MISENHEIMER, N.C. - Pfeiffer University kicked off the 2013 men's lacrosse season in style with five players recording hat tricks during a 24-0 rout of Lees-McRae College on Wednesday afternoon. The game marked the first regular season and Conference Carolinas match for both teams and the first-ever victory for Pfeiffer head coach Lars Keil.
Pfeiffer fired off 64 shots on the day with 44 of those being on goal. Special teams accounted for four man-up and two man-down goals among the two dozen. Steven Tilmon (Orlando, FL), Jordan Michele (Rochester, NY), Cole Sheen (Edmonton, ALBERTA), Elliot Gilbert (Corning, NY) and Derek Thomas (Georgetown, OH) each found the back of the net three times in the win.
Pfeiffer forced 37 Bobcats turnovers and scoop up 55 groundballs as a team. In net, Hayden Kirk (Farmingdale, NY) made five saves in 48 minutes of action while Joe Capstaff (Leonardtown, MD) turned away one shot in relief. Ryan Harrison (Lake Mary, FL) made 17 saves for Lees-McRae.
The Falcons get back to action next Saturday traveling to Lenoir-Rhyne University. The first faceoff with the Bears is slated for 2:00 p.m.
