BREVARD, N.C. - The Brevard College men's lacrosse team made history on Saturday afternoon by defeating the Lees-McRae Bobcats 11-4 in the first ever lacrosse game on the campus of Brevard College.
The Tornados (1-1) scored six unanswered goals over the final two quarters to hold off the Bobcats (0-1), who made it a one-score game at the 12:15 mark in the 3rd quarter before the run by BC put the game away.
Freshman Al Blackman led the Tornados with four goals and a pair of assists while teammates Blair Alexandersen and Andrew Bonnie each placed in a hat trick. Bonnie also added three assists for the Tornados.
Lees-McRae's Kyle Judge got the Bobcats on the board with the game's first goal less than three minutes into the action before Alexandersen tied the game at one apiece at the 10:06 mark.
The game was tied at 2-2 and later 3-3 before BC scored two straight to take a 5-3 lead into halftime, thanks to goals from Bonnie and then Blackman.
BC goalie Matthew Dropuljic collected 12 saves on the afternoon, and kept the Bobcats out of the net for the final 27:15 of action.
