RIT Off to Best Start in Program History

ALFRED, N.Y. - The No. 2 RIT men's lacrosse team remained unbeaten on the season with an 18-6 win at Alfred University on Wednesday. The 12-0 start by the Tigers is the best in program history, and is the second longest winning streak, just behind a 13-game run in 1985. The Tigers remain undefeated in Empire 8 competition, improving to 6-0.
Senior midfielder Jordan MacIntosh (Oakville, ON/Holy Trinity) led RIT with six points on four goals and two assists. Kelso Davis (Freeport, ME/Deerfield Academy) added three goals and an assist, while A.J. Tingle (Cary, NC/Green Hope) tallied three goals. Tyler Russell (Livonia, NY/Livonia) and Matt Lescynski each had two goals.
RIT outshot the Saxons 46-14 and were 4-for-4 with the extra man. The Tigers won the groundball battle 36-29 and were a perfect 23-of-23 on clearing attempts. RIT won 12-of-28 face-offs and held Alfred to just 16 clears in 28 attempts.
Senior Bob Tonnessen (Ridgefield, CT/Ridgefield) improved to 12-0 on the season allowing two goals and making six saves in just over 45 minutes of action.
RIT jumped out to a fast start, leading 5-0 after the first quarter. The Tigers added three more goals in the second quarter and led 8-2 at the half. RIT came out and blanked the Saxons 6-0 in the third quarter, and scored four more goals in the fourth quarter.
Davis, Tingle and Russell each scored twice in the first half. MacIntosh scored three of his four goals in the second half. Jack Krzyston (Bedford, NH/Bishop Guertin), Tanner King (Virginia Beach, VA/Corning East), Tom Riley (West Nyack, NY/Clarkstown South) and Eddie Kiesa (Jamesville, NY/Jamesville-Dewitt) each had goals.
RIT returns to action on Saturday, April 23 at SUNY Oswego. Face-off in Oswego, New York is at 1 pm.
