Sinclair Named Randolph Head Coach
from press release
LYNCHBURG, Va. – Former Lynchburg College graduate and current Winter Park High School (FL) head coach Andy Sinclair has been named as the new head men's lacrosse coach at Randolph College, as announced by the College Friday.
"We're thrilled to have Coach Sinclair join our team," said Director of Athletics Tina Hill. "He is a seasoned professional that understands what it takes to develop a winning program and cares deeply about the development of his players in the classroom, in the community and on the field. Coach Sinclair is no stranger to the ODAC landscape and his passion for the sport will serve us well."
Sinclair comes to the Randolph program after serving as the head boy's lacrosse coach at Winter Park High School in Maitland, FL. While at WPHS, Sinclair guided his program to a 61-14 record over his four year tenure including three district championships and appearances in the state playoff series three times. Sinclair also has produced numerous collegiate players while at Winter Park.
"I would like to thank Randolph College for this wonderful opportunity," said Sinclair. "I am truly honored to be joining the Randolph community and its men's lacrosse program. Randolph College is a great place to be and I am excited to be a part of an institution that is focused on academic excellence as well as athletic success."
Before taking the post at Winter Park, Sinclair worked as the top assistant at Christopher Newport University, where he helped develop a new program. Sinclair recruited players that accumulated 34 wins in the first five years of the program at CNU, and was also directly in charge of monitoring academic performance.
Sinclair got his coaching start at his alma mater of Lynchburg, where he served as a graduate assistant while working towards his master's degree in educational leadership. As an assistant at Lynchburg, he helped the Hornets capture their second Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) title in 2005, a season where he was offensive coordinator. Sinclair was also on the staff for two NCAA Tournament appearances and coached 11 All-ODAC First Team performers. Sinclair played his collegiate lacrosse for the Hornets of Lynchburg, where he helped capture the school's first conference title in 2003.
He was a four-year letter winner for the Hornets, as he scored 15 goals and dished out 11 assists in his career. He earned his bachelor's degree from LC in the spring of 2003 in sociology. He has also worked at multiple lacrosse camps over the years, including stops at the Top Star and Gait Cup Lacrosse Camps in Gettysburg, PA, the Dixie 150 Lacrosse Camp in Gaffney, SC, the UVA Graves Mountain Lacrosse Camp in Charlottesville, VA, and the Notre Dame Lacrosse Camp in South Bend, IN.
Sinclair also attended and started his playing career at Winter Park, where he starred for the Wildcat lacrosse team. "I'd like to instill a level of respect and work ethic that will represent the Randolph College community in the most positive way," said Sinclair. "Through focus and hard work I am eager to build upon the foundation that the previous coaching staff has established. I know that the individuals in this program are driven to succeed, and I am honored to have the opportunity to lead this group into the future."
