Russell Leads No. 6 RIT Over Keuka

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The No. 6 RIT (3-0) men's lacrosse team jumped out to a 4-1 first quarter lead and cruised to a 19-10 win over Keuka College (1-1) in non-league action from RIT's Turf Field on Saturday.
Eleven different Tigers scored goals led by senior Tyler Russell (Livonia, NY/Livonia) who had four. Freshman Brendan MacDonald (Georgetown, Ontario/Trinity-Pawling) had five points on the day on three goals and two assists. Jordan Collins-Hartwig (Buffalo, NY/Clarence) had four points on two goals and two assists, while Kyle Aquin (Hamilton, Ontario/St. Jean De Brebeuf) scored a pair of goals. Senior Alex Crepinsek (Oakville, Ontario/St. Thomas Aquinas) had a goal and an assist and four ground balls for the Tigers.
Chris Redington led the Storm with five points on four goals and an assist. Anthony Luppino had three goals, while Gino Marcello had a goal and two assists.
RIT dominated shots 57-38 and ground balls 61-37. The Tigers won 25-of-31 faceoffs. PJ Hart was 12-of-16 with eight ground balls, and Tyler Brooks-Lambert (Seneca Castle, NY/Midlakes) won 13-of-15 draws, grabbed eight ground balls and scored a goal.
The Tigers were 20-of-22 on clearing attemtps and were 2-of-6 with the man advantage. Keuka was 20-of-31 on clearing attempts and were 2-of-10 with the man advantage.
Sophomore goalie Anthony DeLeo (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua Academy) picked up his second win of the season for RIT, allowing five goals and making 10 saves. Dan Wiatroski (Califon, NJ/West Morris) played the final quarter and made five saves.
Eric Saltrelli played all 60 minutes between the pipes for Keuka allowing 19 goals and making 21 saves.
RIT jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the first quarter, tallying the first four goals of the game. Collins-Hartwig, Tom Riley (West Nyack, NY/Clarkstown South), Aquin and Taylor Wisman (Seattle, WA/Inglemoor) each had goals for the Tigers.
The Tigers broke the game open in the second quarter scoring nine goals, including six in a row to open the quarter. MacDonald and Russell each had a pair of goals in the second quarter to help RIT to a 13-3 halftime lead.
Russell added two more in the third quarter and Tyler Shaw (Tully, NY/Tully) and Brooks-Lambert each scored a goal as RIT extended their lead to 17-5 after three quarters of play.
Wisman and MacDonald added goals in the fourth quarter for RIT.
Marcello, Luppino, Steve Ruggles and Reddington each scored for Keuka in the fourth quarter as they finished with five tallies in the quarter.
RIT is off until Saturday, March 17 when they face cross-twon rival and former Empire 8 foe, St. John Fisher College at 4 pm in Pittsford, New York.
