Drexel Dominates La Salle, Improves to 5-1

PHILADELPHIA -- The Drexel women's lacrosse
team dominated play in an 18-4 win over city-rival La Salle. Drexel
(5-1) outshot the Explorers 34-18 and had nine players score at
least one goal. The Dragons are now 3-0 at Vidas Field.
Sophomore Kelli Joran led the Dragons with four goals and recorded a new career high. Joran now has 10 goals on the season. Freshman Amanda Norcini also had a career high with two goals. Drexel's Jaclyn Klunder led the team with four assists.
The Dragons started a 7-0 run after a quick goal by Amanda Norcini in the opening seconds of the game. Kelli Joran, Katie Blazer, Alyse Maiden, Charlotte Wood, Emily Kane, Kaitlin Harris, Lindsey Kovar, and Ali Allen put points on the board and created a solid lead for Drexel.
La Salle's Melanie Sarcinello scored a pair of goals in the first half and looked to create momentum for the Explorers. Drexel went on a four-goal run and were up by ten, 12-2, at the end of the first half. Drexel held on to the lead for the rest of the game.
Senior goalkeeper Whitney Johnson registered five saves and caused a turnover. Freshmen Amanda Santandrea played the entire second half and tallied three saves.
The women's lacrosse team returns to action on Wednesday, March 23 at 4:00 p.m. against California at Vidas Field.
