Towson's Custer Gets Co-CAA Player of Week

RICHMOND, Va. – After leading Towson University to a pair of wins last week, sophomore midfielder Kelly Custer (Sun Valley H.S./Aston, Pa.) has been named as a co-winner of the Colonial Athletic Association Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week award for the week ending March 27, it has been announced by CAA officials.
It is the first time Custer has been honored in her career. She shared the award with junior goalkeeper Jackie Pandolf of Hofstra University.
"Kelly is emerging as a strong offensive threat for us and has really stepped it up on our draw possessions," Towson Coach Sonia LaMonica said. "She has great stick skills and excellent awareness and continues to test her own abilities, allowing her to get stronger everyday."
Custer scored five goals with two assists as the Tigers extended their win streak to three straight games with wins over Temple and Denver. In the Tigers' 13-10 victory over Temple, she recorded the second "hat trick" of her college career by scoring three goals along with an assist.
Custer contributed two goals with an assist in the Tigers' 12-10 win over Denver on Friday night while adding a season-high four draw controls.
The Tigers' fourth-leading scorer with 12 points, Custer is tied for second on the team with 10 goals. She also leads the Tigers with 16 draw controls.
Now 4-4 on the season, the Tigers will finish their three-game homestand on Tuesday evening against top-ranked Maryland at Johnny Unitas® Stadium at 7 p.m.
