Detroit Rings Up 20 in Win Over Howard

DETROIT – Detroit has now won
back-to-back National Lacrosse Conference games. UDM defeated
Howard on Saturday afternoon by the final score of 20-14. Emily
Boissonneault scored a game-high six goals against the Bison.
Detroit (3-10, 2-5 NLC) had strong performances from Boissonneault and Anna Eidem. Boissonneault did more than score, as the junior ended the game with seven ground balls and five caused turnovers. Eidem provided the Titans with offense with a five goal performance against Howard.
Lindsey Saunders and Zaynib Hamze were also effective against Howard. Both players ended Saturday's matchup with a hat trick. Corina Mahorn, Olivia Mendoza, and Tara Grady rounded out the scoring for Detroit.
Howard (3-11, 0-7 NLC) had two players score five goals each. Team leader Desiree Cox and Courtland Lackey scored 10 of the team's 14 goals. Cynithia Smalls, Ashley Lawrence, and Chastity Dailey rounded out the scoring effort for the Bison.
The duo of Eidem and Saunders was working early as Detroit opened up a four goal lead thanks to two goals from each player. Lackey broke the Titan streak with a goal at the 19:34 mark. The first half was a game of runs, but after 30 minutes of action it was Detroit coming out on top 11-9.
The second half slowed down a bit. Detroit outscored Howard 9-5. Boissonneault got her game going in the second half. The junior scored five of her six goals in the final half of play.
Jenna Alberts earned her second win of the year in the net for Detroit. Alberts made three saves. Amber Meeks was the goalkeeper for Howard. She was under attack early and made eight saves in the first half. She ended the day with 10.
