from press release

BOSTON, Mass. – The Harvard women's lacrosse team turned a 10-3 halftime lead into a 16-6 win over Boston University Wednesday night at Nickerson Field. The Crimson (8-4) had eight different Crimson players find the back of the net.

Harvard snapped a six-game losing streak against the Terriers in its first win over its closest neighbor since 1994.

Danielle Tetreault led the Crimson with four goals and an assist. Jess Halpern scored a hat trick, while Jennifer VanderMeulen, Melanie Baskind and Isabelle Clarke added two tallies.  Ellen Gleason, Chelsey Newman and Tyler Petropulos also found the back of the net.  Baskind won a team-high four draw controls, while Lauren Tomkinson caused a career-high four turnovers and Mariah Pewarski picked up four ground balls.

The Crimson scored early and often in the opening minutes of the game cruising out to a 5-0 lead after 14 minutes of play.  Harvard score four more over the next 10 minutes to take a 9-1 lead. Boston University put in two straight scores before Tetreault found VanderMeulen with 38 seconds left to close out the half.

BU pulled to within 11-6 after 20 minutes of action in the second session. The Crimson responded by scoring the next five tallies of the game and shutting down the Terrier offense over the final 10 minutes of the game.

The Crimson scooped up 18 ground balls, 10 more than BU. Harvard outshot the Terriers 27-17. Kerry Clark made four saves in the cage.

Harvard hosts Columbia, the winner of three straight, Saturday in its home finale and Senior Day. First draw is slated for 1 p.m.
