Lehigh Women Have Busy Fall Slate

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh head women's lacrosse coach Jill Redfern announced the team's fall schedule on Thursday, which includes four dates, including a special tournament in Cherry Hill, N.J. The Mountain Hawks will face some of the best teams in the region, and nation this fall in Rutgers, Georgetown and more.
Deep into its second week of practice, Lehigh will face its first opponents on Sept. 23 when it hosts Rutgers and Lafayette. Following a few weeks of practice, the Mountain Hawks then head to Cherry Hill for "Fall Ball on the Hill" on Oct. 15. Admission is five dollars with all proceeds from the tournament going to The Joshua Kahan Fund, which is dedicated to the fight against Pediatric Leukemia.
The tournament is a round robin series of exhibition games featuring some of the nation's top women's lacrosse teams. Other teams participating include: Vermont, La Salle, George Mason, Robert Morris, Temple, Columbia, Rutgers, Drexel and Iona. Games will be played on state of the art athletic turf fields at the new Decou Athletic Complex.
Lehigh returns to action each of the following two weekends, at the Yale Tournament on Oct. 23 and at Georgetown on the 29th.
The Mountain Hawks are busy preparing for a much-anticipated spring season. Three 2011 All-Patriot honorees return in seniors Leigh Ann Torcivia and Kelly Draper, along with sophomore Alexandra Fitzpatrick. Lehigh also welcomes nine talented freshmen in hopes of advancing to its sixth straight Patriot League Tournament in the spring.
