Lehigh Women Announce Fall Schedule
from press release
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Head women's lacrosse coach Jill Redfern announced the Mountain Hawks' fall schedule on Tuesday, which includes four days of competition against a number of opponents. Lehigh will face nine different squads representing six different conferences, beginning on Sept. 26 and running through Oct. 23.
The Mountain Hawks are in the midst of fall practice, hard at work in preparation for the 2011 season. The defending Patriot League Regular Season Champions look to build upon a strong 2010 campaign in search of the program's first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance.
"This team is anxious to get on the field together for the first time," said Redfern. "We are thrilled with the outstanding competition our fall schedule provides."
Lehigh will face two NCAA Tournament teams in its fall slate – Towson and Georgetown. In addition, Penn State and Georgetown finished among the top 25 of last season's RPI.
The squad begins its schedule this Sunday, Sept. 26 on the road against Penn State and Rutgers. A familiar in-state opponent, the Mountain Hawks face the Nittany Lions at 11 a.m. before playing the Scarlet Knights at 12:30 p.m.
Lehigh hosts its first event of the fall from Oct. 15-16, all at Banko Field. On Friday, the Mountain Hawks will face Rutgers (5:30 p.m.) and Drexel (7:30 p.m.) before hosting Lafayette (11 a.m.) and Monmouth (1:30 p.m.) on Saturday.
Redfern's squad rounds out the fall schedule the following weekend at the George Mason Tournament. There, it will face four different opponents in shortened games – Georgetown (9 a.m.), La Salle (11 a.m.), Towson (1 p.m.) and George Washington (3 p.m.).
