Oregon Bolsters Midfield with Early Signees

EUGENE, Ore. – University of Oregon head lacrosse coach Jen Larsen revealed her early signing class on Friday. The Ducks continue to have a presence in the recruiting hotbed of Maryland, with three of their four early signings hailing from the Old Line state.

Donning the Green and Yellow next year are midfielders Casey Brogan (Annapolis, Md./St. Mary's HS), Raleigh Cavey (Eldersburg, Md./Century HS), Devon Frazer (Lafayette, Calif./Acalanes HS) and Olivia Pyne (Edgewater, Md./South River HS).

Profiles of the Ducks' four incoming players are listed in alphabetical order below.

Casey Brogan
Midfielder
Annapolis, Md./St. Mary's HS

Notes: Served as a team captain on the lacrosse team as a junior ... led team to the state semifinals and a fourth-place finish in the state in 2010 ... also earned two varsity letters in soccer ... plays for the Maryland United Lacrosse club team ... maintains a 4.06 GPA as of the 2010 fall term ... member of the National Honor Society and French National Honor Society.

Larsen on Brogan: "Casey is a pure midfielder who excels at both ends of the field. She will give our team a lot of depth with her well-rounded athleticism."


Raleigh Cavey
Midfielder
Eldersburg, Md./Century HS

Notes: Earned three varsity letters in lacrosse ... was the only freshman on her varsity team in 2008 ... helped lead team to consecutive Maryland 2A State Championships as a sophomore and junior ... named first-team all-county and honorable mention all-conference as a junior ... also lettered four times in field hockey ... named first-team all-conference once and earned honorable mention on two other occasions ... led team to two appearances in the Maryland 2A State Championship game ... member of the National Honor Society and editor of the school yearbook.

Larsen on Cavey: "We loved Raleighs presence on the defensive side of the field during the recruiting process. She has the aggressiveness and instincts to mesh very well within our defense."


Devon Frazer
Midfielder
Lafayette, Calif./Acalanes HS

Notes: Started on the varsity lacrosse team all three years ... voted offensive MVP by her teammates as a sophomore and junior ... won team's rookie of the year award as a freshman ... named first-team all-conference twice and earned second-team all-conference honors once ... selected to the Women's Division National Tournament Pacific lacrosse team following her junior year ... served as team captain as a junior ... club team is the Triple Threat Lacrosse Club ... also lettered three times in golf ... earned the Scholar-Athlete award all three years in golf.

Larsen on Frazer: "Devon's style of play is relentless. She is athletic on the circle and hustles all over. She too will definitely bring depth to our midfield."


Olivia Pyne
Midfielder
Edgewater, Md./South River HS

Notes: Lettered twice in lacrosse ... led South River High School to its first state championship in school history as a junior ... named second-team all county as a junior ... club team is Chesapeake Lacrosse Club ... also earned three letters in swimming and two more in cross country ... competed in the county, regional and state swim meets as a sophomore and junior ... qualified for the state cross country meet as a senior ... member of the National Honor Society.

Larsen on Pyne: "The things that stood out to us about Olivia in the recruiting process were her speed and her craftiness on offense. She will make our attack more dynamic and our midfield even faster."
