Senior Jessica Rothstein added five goals and junior Ana White chipped in with three scores. Senior Addie Godfrey tallied a goal and an assist, while junior Laura Kleiber rounded out the scoring with one tally of her own.

Despite being outshot by Monmouth, the Leopards converted on 16 of their 20 shots on goal, including McCabe (6-6), Rothstein (5-5) and White (3-3) hitting the target and scoring on all of their attempts.

The Hawks had four players score three goals, including Allison Stathius, Kaleigh Gibbons, Emily Barbieri and Cassie Campasano. Caroline Huelster received the loss in net falling to 0-1, making two saves in her 14:36 of action, and starter Katie Donohoe made two saves in 45:24.

McCabe got into the action netting her first two goals with 24:58 and 24:24 left in the first half to give the Leopards their first lead of the night, 3-2. A goal by Monmouth's Stathius slowed McCabe's scoring spree briefly before the rookie tossed in her third of the night with 21:32 on the clock. Another Hawks goal by Gibbons once again tied the score at 4-4.

McCabe was back to her scoring ways again netting her fourth on a feed from senior Cammie Linville to make it 5-4 at the 16:52 mark of the first half. Monmouth's Campasano would level the score at five a minute later. Rothstein found the back of the net for the second time of the night a few minutes giving the Leopards a 6-5 advantage.

After another Monmouth goal, White made it 7-6 Lafayette, scoring on a pass from senior Victoria Maxon with 8:50 to go in the first half. Following another Hawks goal, Kleiber once again gave the Leopards the brief lead, before a Monmouth goal tied the score at eight at halftime.

McCabe started the second half scoring with her fifth and sixth goals of the night, giving the Leopards a two-goal cushion for the first time in the game. Following a Sam Savona goal for Monmouth, Rothstein pushed the lead back to two on her third goal, making in 11-9.

The Leopards and Hawks would go back and forth for the next four goals, with White and Rothstein tallying on the opposite side of Monmouth goals, giving the Leopards a 13-11 lead with 15:52 remaining.

A pair of quick goals by Barbieri knotted the score at 13 with 14:36 to play in the game. Lafayette would score two of the next three with White scoring on an assist from Godfrey, followed by Godfrey's first of the night to give the Leopards the 16-14 lead with 6:24 on the clock.

Monmouth made it a one-goal game with five minutes to play, but the Leopards were able to keep possession and run out the clock, earning their fifth win of the season.

Lafayette is back in action on Saturday afternoon when the Leopards host Holy Cross at Rappolt Field in their Patriot League opener. Opening draw is scheduled for 1 p.m.
