Aztecs Rout LIU Brooklyn 21-1

SAN DIEGO - Sophomore Bailey Ewing scored four goals with an assist, while sophomore Michaela Jarvis added two goals and four assists to lift the San Diego State Lacrosse team over LIU Brooklyn, 21-1, Sunday afternoon at Aztec Lacrosse Field.
Freshman Alexa Comfort scored three goals for the Aztecs, who took a 4-0 lead just four minutes into the game and led 13-1 at halftime. In addition, sophomore Grace Korandovich and freshmen Felice Artuso and Andrea Killebrew each scored two goals for SDSU (3-2, 1-0 MPSF).
Junior Christina Ricciardulli caused two turnovers and recorded three draw controls, while Madison Formwalt scooped up two groundballs. The Aztecs finished with 32 shots on goal, while LIU Brooklyn had just two. SDSU also forced 15 turnovers and had a 15-8 edge in draw controls.
Korandovich started the scoring for the Aztecs, tossing in a free-position goal just over a minute into the game. Jarvis and Ewing chipped in a goal apiece to push the lead to three, before consecutive goals by Meris Walsh made it 5-0 with 25:44 left in the first half. With SDSU up big early in the second half, Ewing's goal off Jarvis' behind-the-back pass extended the advantage, 15-1, with 26:53 remaining.
The Aztecs return to action on Thursday, March 14, as they continue their homestand against Marquette beginning at 7 p.m. PT at Aztec Lacrosse Field.
