PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Sophomore Covie Stanwick recorded six points on four goals and two assists to help No. 19/17 Boston College extend its winning streak to five games beating Brown, 15-12, at Stevenson Field on Sunday afternoon.
The Eagles (9-6, 3-2 ACC) used a 4-0 run in the second half to break an 8-8 tie and take a 12-8 lead with just over 11 minutes to play against the Bears (9-4, 2-3 Ivy).
Freshman Sarah Mannelly registered four points on three goals and an assist while freshman Kara Magley and junior Cali Ceglarski each scored twice. Eight different BC players scored in the game.
BC took a 2-0 lead just over a minute into the game off goals from Stanwick and Mannelly. After a Brown goal, the Eagles scored twice within 45 seconds to take a 4-1 edge inside of the contest's first five minutes. Stanwick scored first, wrapping around the goal to her right before Mikaela Rix connected on a free position shot. After another Bears tally, Magley found the back of the net off an eight-meter shot to give BC a 5-2 lead with 16:48 left in the first.
The Eagles and Bears traded a pair of goals over the next 10 minutes as BC gained a 7-4 edge. Mannelly scored both of BC's goals during the stretch, attacking from the top of the arc on the first and using a spin move to lose her defender on the left side of the goal on the second. Brown scored the opening period's last two goals to pull within 7-6 at the half.
Stanwick opened the second half's scoring off an assist from Mannelly to give BC an 8-6 edge, but Brown responded with two goals inside of a minute to tie the score at 8-8 with 23:57 to play.
The Eagles then went on their 4-0 run to claim a 12-8 lead with 11:06 to play. Caroline Margolis started the scoring on a quick shot after receiving a pass from Stanwick before Kate McCarthy scored from in front of the net. Ceglarkski posted the next BC tally as Stanwick earned her second assist of the contest before Magley closed the run with her second goal of the game.
After two goals from the Bears, BC answered with two goals to extend its lead to 14-10 with 2:27 remaining. Stanwick and Ceglarski provided the goals for the Eagles.
