Merrimack Unveils 2012 Schedule

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Merrimack women's lacrosse team has released the schedule for the 2012 season, featuring seven home and eight away contests. The first three games of the season for the Warriors will be at home at Martone-Mejail Field.
Merrimack opens up their 2012 campaign at home on Saturday March 10 as they host conference foe Saint Anselm. Next up for the Warriors is Assumption as the Greyhounds will travel to North Andover for a 4 pm tilt at Martone-Mejail Field on Tuesday March 13. Merrimack will wrap up their season opening three game home stand against Adelphi at noon on Saturday March 17.
The Warriors first road contest of the season will be on Thursday March 22 at 3:30 pm as they will travel to Lock Haven (Pa.) for a non conference matchup. After returning home for a game against New haven, the Warriors will hit the road for two more contests against American int'l on March 27 and Le Moyne on March 31.
Merrimack will return home for their second three game home stand of the season on April 4 as they are set to take on Southern New Hampshire at 7 pm. C.W. Post comes to town for a non conference weekend showdown with the Warriors at noon on Saturday April 7. The home stand will wrap up as the Warriors will play Bentley on Tuesday April 10 at 7 pm in front of the home crowd.
The Warriors close out the season on the road for five straight games starting with Stonehill on April 12 and closing out the season against Franklin Pierce on April 24.
The Warriors posted a 12-7 overall record last year with an 8-4 mark in the Northeast-10 Conference under the guidance of head coach Corinne Baker. For the second consecutive year Mary Pasquantonio (Plainville, Mass.) was named to the Northeast-10 All-Conference second team. Pasquantonio led the Warriors in goals with 52 and was second on the team in total points with 68. Colleen Strachan (Bedford, Mass.) led the team in total points with 72 points but was not named to any of All-Conference teams.
Olivia Huie (Norwell, MA) and Inna Hedden (Woodbine, MD) were named to the All-Rookie team for their efforts in their first season on campus. Huie started all 19 games for the Warriors and recorded 10 total points and 37 groundballs. Hedden took over the goaltending job to start the season and appeared in all 19 games posting 11.21 goals against average and recording a winning record of 12-7.
