No. 8 Dowling Downs Philadelphia for Fourth Win in a Row

Brookhaven, N.Y.- The No. 8 Dowling College women's lacrosse team remains unbeaten in 2013 with a 17-5 win over the Rams of Philadelphia University. The Golden Lions improve to 4-0 as the Rams slide to 1-3.
Three Golden Lions finished with three goals a piece. Samantha Stavish had a game high six points off three goals and three assits as Jackie Andersen totaled five points with three goals and two assists. Kelly Cefalu netted three goals with an assist.
Dowling jumped to a 5-0 lead with five different Golden Lion finding the back of the net with the first 4:40 of play. After an exchange of goals by both sides, the Rams went back to back to cut the lead in half, 6-3, with 17:21 left in the half. The Golden Lions finished the half out scoring the Rams 5-1 to go into the break ahead 11-4.
The Golden Lion opened the second half with two quick scores from Stavish and Andersen. Philly's Allison Brian put one past DC's Tina Fey for their final goal of the day with 23:15 on the clock. Stavish then fed three different Golden Lions over the next 15 minutes to go up 16-3 and Cefalu's free position shot with just three minutes remaining wrapped up the scoring to give Dowling their fourth win on the season.
Dispite the Rams winning 13 of 11 draw controls, the Golden Lions out shot the Rams 35-11, 31 on cage, with 30 groundballs to Philly's 20.
The Golden Lions open ECC play as they travel to take on LIU Post Wednesday, March 20th at 4:00 PM.
