No. 16 Messiah Keeps Rolling, Beats FDU

MADISON, N.J. - The College at Florham Devils were defeated by Messiah, 18-8, in Middle Atlantic Conference action on Saturday afternoon.
With the loss, the Devils dropped to 5-4 (4-2 MAC) while the Falcons improved to 8-1 (5-0 MAC).
FDU notched the first goal of the game, just 0:44 into the contest when senior midfielder Erika Depelteau found the back of the net. Messiah came right back to score the next three goals before the Devils made it 3-2 on another goal by Depelteau with 17:05 left in the first half. The Falcons tallied three in a row again to take a 6-2 advantage but the Devils scored the final goal of the half when sophomore attack Jennie Jones converted a free-position shot.
Messiah came out on fire to start the second half, scoring seven of the first eight goals to grab a 13-4 lead with 12:16 left in the game. The two squads traded goals from the point on but Messiah had already done their damage and picked up the 18-8 win.
Depelteau and Jones each finished with two goals for FDU while senior midfielder Lindsey Parent added two goals and an assist. Sophomore goalkeeper Jessica Burkhard suffered the loss, making 11 saves.
The Devils return to action on Wednesday, April 6, 2011, at home against Eastern beginning at 4 pm.
