Launch Pick Up First Win in Franchise History

BOCA RATON, Fla. - Garrett Thul scored
back-to-back goals to open the fourth quarter to break a 7-7 tie,
and finished with a team-high three goals as Florida beat Charlotte
11-8 to earn the first victory in franchise history.
Casey Powell had two goals and three assists to help pace the Florida offense and Grant Kaleikau added a pair of goals. Brett Queener had a standout game in net for the Launch, making 18 saves to pick up the victory.
Matt Danowski led Charlotte with three goals, but was the only multiple-goal scorer for the Hounds, who fell to 0-2 after reaching the MLL championship game last season. Tim Fallon won 15-of-23 faceoffs for Charlotte. Pierce Bassett made 11 saves for the Hounds.
Charlotte never led in the game, but Jake Tripucka's goal with just five seconds left in the third quarter tied it 7-7, the third tie of the game. Thul, a member of Team USA's 30-man roster, then took over for Florida. He notched his second goal of the game less than two minutes into the fourth quarter and then netted his third goal with just over five minutes left.
