With the world's best lacrosse players battling for coveted roster spots during training camps and exhibition games, the 2014 NLL preseason promises to be one of the most competitive in league history.
Follow your team throughout the preseason before the 2014 NLL regular season opens on Saturday, Dec. 28 by checking out their training camp and exhibition schedule below (all times local).
The Buffalo Bandits open training camp on Saturday, Nov. 23. The team's camp is highlighted by three scrimmages, the first two against the Philadelphia Wings at First Niagara Center on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 12 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 8. The Bandits will play an exhibition against the Edmonton Rush on Saturday, Dec. 14 at Iroquois Lacrosse Arena.
The December 7 scrimmage against Philadelphia will be open to the public as a free, non-ticketed event with general admission seating. The Select-a-Seat season ticket program will take place throughout the day and there will also be a team autograph session with Bandits players following the scrimmage.
The Calgary Roughnecks are slated to announce training camp details in the coming days with their regular season opener set for Friday, Jan. 3. The Roughnecks have scheduled two preseason games to date, the first against the Vancouver Stealth at Langley Events Centre on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 7 p.m. and the second against the defending champion Rochester Knighthawks on Sunday, Dec. 15 at Iroquois Lacrosse Arena in Six Nations, Ontario at 1 p.m. ET. Both exhibitions are closed to the public.
The Colorado Mammoth concluded its first weekend of training camp from Nov. 15-17 at The Recreation Center at Westridge in Highlands Ranch, Colorado with a 30-man preseason roster. Training camp continues with exhibition games at Toronto Rock Athletic Centre (TRAC) in Oakville, Ontario against the Minnesota Swarm on Friday, Dec. 6 and Toronto Rock on Saturday, Dec. 7 (open to the public).
The Mammoth return home to Colorado for camp sessions on the weekends of December 13-15 and December 20-22 before starting the regular season at home at Pepsi Center on Saturday, Dec. 28.
The Edmonton Rush will have two main training camp weekends with the first session starting on Thursday, Nov. 28 at Leduc Recreation Centre from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. and 2:30-4:30 p.m., both of which are open to the public. On Friday, Nov. 29, the team will shift to Rexall Place for a morning practice before an inter-squad scrimmage from 7:30-10 p.m. The scrimmage is open to the public as doors open at 6:30 p.m. The team will have two more practices that fans can attend, the first at Rexall Place from 3-5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 30 and from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 1 at Leduc Recreation Centre.
From Thursday, Dec. 12 to Sunday, Dec. 15, the Rush will hold camp at Iroquois Lacrosse Arena in Six Nations, Ontario, highlighted by a scrimmage against the Buffalo Bandits on Saturday, Dec. 14 at 2 p.m. ET. All Rush camp sessions at ILA are closed to the public.
The Minnesota Swarm will open their first weekend of main camp on Friday, Nov. 29 and will practice until Sunday, Dec. 1 at the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre (TRAC) in Oakville, Ontario. The team is set to return to Oakville for two additional main camp sessions from Dec. 6-8 and Dec. 13-15.
Exhibition games include Friday, Dec 6 against the Colorado Mammoth at TRAC at 7 p.m. ET, Saturday, Dec. 7 at the Rochester Knighthawks at Blue Cross Arena at 8 p.m. ET (open to the public), and Saturday, Dec. 14 vs. the Calgary Roughnecks at TRAC at 1:30 p.m. ET.
The Philadelphia Wings will begin preparations for the upcoming 2014 NLL season during a three-day training camp held at BucksMont Indoor Sports Center in Hatfield, PA from Friday, Nov. 22 through Sunday, Nov. 24.
Four different practice sessions will be held over the three-day period. All sessions are open to the public. Practice times are as follows: Friday, Nov. 22 from 9-11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 23 from 8-10 a.m. and 6-8 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 24 from 8-10 a.m.
The Wings play three exhibition scrimmages before the start of the regular season, the first two against the Buffalo Bandits on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 12 p.m. (open to public) and Sunday, Dec. 8 at 10 a.m. at the First Niagara Center in Buffalo, NY. The final tune-up takes place when the Wings visit the Toronto Rock on Saturday, Dec. 21 at 7 p.m. at the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre in Oakville, Ontario, also open to the public.
The Rochester Knighthawks will open their Training Camp on Saturday, Nov. 23 at the new state-of-the-art Unity Health System Total Sports Experience (TSE) in East Rochester. The back-to-back NLL champions will hold their first weekend of camp at the new West Commercial Street location.
The Knighthawks will begin their quest to become the first team in NLL history to win three straight championships on Saturday, Nov. 23 from 5-7 p.m. The second practice is slated for Sunday, Nov. 24 from 1-3 p.m. Knighthawks Training Camp is one of the first events scheduled for the second Unity Health System Total Sports Experience location.
The Knighthawks will open their preseason schedule on Saturday, Dec. 7 against the Minnesota Swarm. The 8 p.m. contest is a preview of opening night. Tickets for the preseason game are free and can be ordered through Knighthawks.com. During a pregame ceremony, former Knighthawks goaltender Pat O'Toole will be inducted into the NLL Hall of Fame as the lone inductee of the Class of 2013. For more information, please click here.
The Knighthawks then play two more preseason games, first against the Toronto Rock on Saturday, Dec. 14 at Toronto Rock Athletic Centre at 7 p.m. (open to the public) then the Calgary Roughnecks at Iroquois Lacrosse Arena at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 15.
The 2014 Toronto Rock will begin to take shape when the team holds their Rookie and Free Agent Camp from November 23-24 at the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre (TRAC) in Oakville, ON. The following weekend, the team will open their main training camp there on November 30.
The Rock have also set their preseason schedule with a full slate of exhibition scrimmages taking place at TRAC.
Toronto will host the Colorado Mammoth on Saturday, Dec. 7, followed by a matchup against the Rochester Knighthawks on Saturday, Dec. 14. The preseason calendar wraps up on Saturday, Dec. 21 when the Rock face the Philadelphia Wings. All three games start at 7 p.m. and are open to the public with no charge for admission.
The Vancouver Stealth celebrate the return of NLL lacrosse to British Columbia with plenty of training camp sessions at Langley Events Centre and an exhibition game on Saturday, Dec. 7 against the Calgary Roughnecks. While doors to the December 7 scrimmage are closed, all training camp sessions are open to the public. Camp sessions at the LEC are as follows:
